Senior Vice President/Procurement & Marketing

Scott Cormier serves as Senior Vice President/ Procurement & Marketing at Taunton-based AGAR. A 30-year veteran of the food distribution industry, Mr. Cormier has a wealth of knowledge in the entire food service category with a specialty in helping the independent restaurant operator manage profitability.

Mr. Cormier keeps a close eye on daily food markets including butter and cheese markets, wheat and other grains and non-food items such as paper products, foil markets and crude oil markets which are used for plastic wrapping, tin foil and other restaurant items. He pays very close attention to how these price fluctuations affect the independent restaurant operator. In a time of unprecedented rising food costs on the national market, Mr. Cormier stays busy monitoring the food industry as a whole.

Mr. Cormier manages a team of buyers who also pay close attention to market conditions and work hard to negotiate competitive pricing on all items. He also manages all vendor relations for AGAR.

Mr. Cormier has been in the food business since 1978 starting by working in the local grocery store while in high school. He continued his food distribution career by working in warehousing, operations, marketing and purchasing. In 1996 Mr. Cormier went on to serve as merchandising manager at well-known JP Food Service and in 1999, landed at AGAR. Mr. Cormier helped implement AGAR’s broadline food distribution going past meats and seafood and was instrumental in implementing new technology to manage AGAR’s entire operation.
