Anthony Conti serves as executive vice president/operations & procurement at AGAR. Mr. Conti was born into the meat business. Conti, a veteran of food sales and distribution has close to 40 years in the business. Starting by working with his father in the meat business in Rhode Island, Conti has gained his extensive knowledge of the industry from the ground up. At AGAR, Mr. Conti oversees an operation that includes a 275,000 S/F operation, over 100 trucks and 125 drivers.
Mr. Conti is a leading authority in New England when it comes to the purchasing of commodity meats. At AGAR, he spends a great deal of his time monitoring daily markets, analyzing market trends and charting the trading of commodity meats. He is an expert in predicting these markets and has a firm grasp of what the future holds for the business of buying and selling of meats and other foods. He is well versed in how other market conditions and economies affect the food industry for the local independent restaurant all the way up to the industry as a whole.
Conti has performed just about every job in the meat business from meat cutting, carrying and selling, to managing entire operations of food distribution, and analyzing markets. Mr. Conti spent a majority of his career at two major food distributors in southern New England, working closely with large operations such as supermarkets, all the way down to locally-owned delis.
