Position: TRUCK DRIVER

SUMMARY Drives trucks requiring CDL A or B License to safely transport goods to and from specified customers destinations by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Drive truck on designated routes according to operational needs and observing driving statutes.
  • Perform required pre-trip and post trip inspections 
  •  Safely and accurately unload customer products at stop using two wheeler or pallet jack 
  •   Answer customer inquiries politely and professionally 
  •   Obtain customer signatures for deliveries. 
  •   Communicate with Dispatcher via cell phone as required.  
  •   Complete required paperwork.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple memos, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one to customers and other employees of the organization. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. 

REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Must have a valid state CDL driver's license.
  • Must have current DOT physical card

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to drive vehicle, sit and climb or balance.  The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 170 pounds with two wheeler and move two wheeler up and down ramp and in and out of customer locations (including stairs).   Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.  The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.  The employee is occasionally exposed to precarious places; extreme cold; and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

  • Employee must pass and be re-certified (as required) DOT driver physical, pre-employment drug screen and pre-employment background check.
  • Employee must wear ANSI spec 75 steel capped safety shoes at all times while on duty. Employee must follow all published safety rules and perform job in a safe manner.
  • Perform any material handling tasks in a manner that will minimize stress to the back and as directed through OSHA training for proper lifting techniques.
  • Report all injuries, no matter how minor, to supervisor immediately, filling out proper incident report form the same day as the incident.
  • Employee is subject to DOT pre-employment, post accident and random drug and alcohol testing.

LEVEL OF JOB PRESSURE The employee must meet productivity standards for accomplishing route times while maintaining driving, equipment care, and personal safety standards. Punctuality and excellent attendance are essential  requirements as is the requirement to work additional hours or alternate shifts without restriction.

INTERPERSONAL BEHAVIORS This position requires a cooperative, problem-solving manner with customers, other employees and supervisors.
