AGAR Announces April Food Show at Gillette Stadium/April 1
 

Show to Focus on “Green Profits” and the Launch of AGAR’s New Private Seafood Label Nautifish 

Taunton, MA: March 10, 2009:  AGAR, New England’s largest independent broadline food distributor will host their 10th annual April Food Show at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro MA on April 1, 2009. Show hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Over 250 vendors in the AGAR network will have a presence at the April Food Show. Vendors will be featuring products including Beef, Seafood, Pork, Lamb, Poultry as well as Non-Foods, Dry & Frozen Grocery items. The food show is open to any AGAR customer as well as anyone looking to AGAR for future food distribution needs and profit solutions.

Green Profits:

This year’s show will focus on “green” initiatives for the foodservice industry. More and more restaurant operators are looking for and demanding green and sustainable products to help them combat the rise in energy and food costs, and increase customer loyalty. Some of the “Green” Solutions being displayed will include:

Green Restaurant Association: The GRA helps restaurants and its customers become more environmentally sustainable in ways that are convenient and cost-effective. They will be at the AGAR Food Show to help customers with ideas for going green and staying profitable at the same time.

GreenWave Biodegradable Products: These products made for restaurant take out are made of health conscious natural fiber, such as sugarcane, grass and reed plasma. Green Wave products are biodegradable in water, soil, and compostable material.

Greenware products made by Fabri-Kal are made entirely from plant material. They are crystal clear and have the look have a clear plastic cut but are in fact, biodegradable.

Lock N Pop for Flour Products: Lock N Pop is a water-based, biodegradable, non-toxic, odorless adhesive that leaves no residue, does not affect the “recyclability” of boxes or bags and produces no solid waste.

The promotion of more aluminum packaging in restaurants: Aluminum is the most valuable consumer recycled material per ton.

 

Official Launch of Nautifish:

Another Focus of the show will be the official launch of Nautifish, AGAR’s new private seafood brand A donation will be made to The Ocean Alliance www.oceanalliance.org/ for every pound of Nautifish that is sold.. Nautifish will offer a variety of seafood including lobster, scallops, haddock, cod, mussels and a variety of clam products. The Nautifish brand was developed to not only offer quality seafood products to New England restaurants and retail outlets but to help foster a greater awareness of the sustainability issues that affect the ocean. All Nautifish products will also be distributed in 100 percent recyclable packaging.
