Position: NIGHT WAREHOUSE SELECTOR

SUMMARY Within the AGAR guidelines, our selectors are be responsible for accurately selecting orders and staging loads for next morning delivery vehicles

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING:

SELECTS PRODUCT

  • Selects items correctly (specific product and quantity) as directed by voice selection system.  
  • Reports shorts via voice system and fills shorted product according to policy
  • Reports defective or damaged product to Supervisor immediately (never ship defective product)
  • Voices in accurate catch weights where applicable.
  • Maintains safe, clean environment (e.g., picks up loose shrink wrap, wood pieces, plastic strapping)

BUILDS PALLETS

  • Builds pallets in proper stop order and to minimize driver effort in unloading
  • Builds pallet to maximize load stability and proper order for product care to minimize damages
  • Applies stickers on product according to policy
  • Shrink-wraps load to minimize transit damage to product.

LOADS TRUCKS

  • As assigned, loads pallets in correct sequence and voices in pallets as individually loaded.

OPERATES MACHINERY

  • Operates pallet jack according to OSHA training and company policy
  • Performs all OSHA required safety checks prior to using equipment
  • Reports machinery problems or safety defects immediately to supervisor or Maintenance

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lifts  using proper techniques  as directed through training for proper material handling.
  • Reports any work related injuries, no matter how minor, to supervisor immediately, filling out proper incident    report form the same day as the incident.
  • Always wears proper safety shoe (ANSI spec 75) and applicable personal protective gear (e.g., freezer suit).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Less than high school education; or up to three month related experience or training;   or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Ability to hear computer commands on headset.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, or case count

REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, AND TRAINING

  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening, WorkSteps and physical, and criminal/background check
  • Receive OSHA required training (with proper documentation) in those areas that are work related (Hazard Communication; Lock Out/Tag Out; etc)
  • Receive OSHA required fire extinguisher training
  • Receive AIB Sanitation Policy
  • Receive AGAR Proper Lifting and Back Safety Training

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to walk.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and taste or smell.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 90 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, 30 F cold, and vibration.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

LEVEL OF JOB PRESSURE The Night Warehouse Selector must perform at a constant pace and perform continuous safe lifting duties for a 10 hour shift while meeting productivity standards ( minimum 95 cases per hour at 90 days of employment)

INTERPERSONAL BEHAVIORS This position routinely requires cooperative interaction with warehouse and transportation personnel, supervisors, and other employees. Must keep composure in difficult situations. Employee must have scheduling flexibility to work beyond normal schedule and business hours without ongoing restrictions. As customer service needs must be met daily, excellent attendance is an essential function of the position. Employee is subject to pre-employment drug screen and post hire random, reasonable suspicion, and post injury/accident drug testing.
